Thou shalt not...

... jours restants...

"C'est une hécatombe" dit LIZ;
"non c'est un génocidre" répond POL !

The shapes of things to come

Ensuite on allège :
Vendredi dernière sortie seuil avec 3x10';

Etre confiant. Penser au marathon mais pas que.
Regarder "Marathon man" ce soir sur Arte. Lire "Conseils marathon, J-14".

Yes we can.

A lire attentivement donc.

Funny shirts

#1 - 3 kinds of people: Those who can do math while running, and those who can't.
#2 - 100,000 Sperm And You Were The Fastest?
#3 - If you are feeling good, don't worry. It'll be over soon.
#4 - Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
#5 - According to my calculations, this race will go on Forever.
#6 - I can handle pain until it hurts.
#7 - The road to hell is paved with little plastic cups!
#8 - My wife said "If you go running one more time, I'm going to leave you" ...I'm sure going to miss her.
#9 - I have always been a crazy runner, but it kept me from going insane.
#10 - I have legs and I'm not afraid to use them.

Will Run for Food
Running is Cheaper than Therapy
If you can read the back of my shirt I am still in front
Pain is temporary, but crappy race times are forever
Wanted : Woman, must have own Garmin
Suffer Quietly, we still have 13.1 to go
If you see me collapse, pause my Garmin
If you want to get there follow me. If you want to get there fast follow someone else
Hold my medal while I kiss your girlfriend
"The Wall"...A fictitious object with real consequences
If I keel over, please carry my Garmin to the finish line
Race day strategy: Start off slow then back off
My sport is your sport's punishment
Yes, I run like a girl, try to keep up with me
Please God, let there be someone behind me to read this
If you can read this, you're going too fas
If found on the ground, please drag across the finish line
running is a mental sport, we're all insane
In My Dreams I'm a Kenyan
I Run So I Can Eat
Shut Up and Run
Impossible Was Nothing (crossed out from Impossible Is nothing)
13.1 I don't go all the way
This seemed like a good idea 16 weeks ago
I love running...I hate running...I love running...I hate running
Math is hard. Running is easy
Run like you stole something!
The people shouting "It's all downhill from here" are LYING!
This sure is a lot of work for a bottle of water and half a banana
I have a fantastic pace - compared to a glacier
Find your happy pace
Those shorts make your butt look fast!
The shortest distance between two points isn't the point
I run, therefore I hurt

Encore d'autres ici !

"This seemed like a good idea 2 years ago"

In Praise of the Back of the Pack Marathoners

Ceux (et celles) qui craignent de se retrouver à la queue du serpent de 40000 personnes qui va se faufiler dans les artères de New York le 7 novembre liront avec intérêt le post "In Praise of the Back of the Pack Marathoners" sur Runner's World, et les quelques commentaires qu'il a suscité, entre autres "What do you call the guy who comes in dead last?  A marathon finisher."
Little Apples Times) "A Marathon Run in the Slow Lane"

.
Major Phil Packer – 2009 – Time 13 days
An Iraq rocket attack left Major Packer, 36, a paraplegic with heart and spinal injuries.  Despite this he took on the London Marathon just one month after he had started using crutches and, to date, has raised £1.3 million for Help for Heroes.  He continues to raise funds for a variety of charities and will be in this year’s Virgin London Marathon.  Please click here to learn more about his 26 miles for 26 charities in 26 hours!!
Michael Watson – 2003 – Six days, two hours, 26 minutes and 18 seconds
After a bout with Chris Eubank in 1991, boxer Michael Watson was left brain damaged and in a coma for 40 days.  He endured 6 operations on his brain but was left unable to walk and in a wheelchair for many years. Chris Eubank joined Watson for the final mile and welcomed him across the finish line.  Asked what had carried him through the journey, he said ‘My faith in Jesus Christ.’
Lloyd Scott – 2002 – Time: Five days, eight hours, 29 minutes and 46 seconds
Having suffered from leukemia, Lloyd decided to take part in the London Marathon wearing a 120lb deep-sea diving suit, which is now at the National Maritime Museum complete with his race number!  Scott has become well known for his spectacular fundraising having raised an astonishing £4 million for cancer charities.

Bientôt... un sponsor Little Apples ?

Un post "Golden words for first marathon" sur Runner's World contient quelques bons conseils ou belles phrases :

- Look around during the race and enjoy the crowds and scenery.

- Enjoy every single mile of it. Don't stress and have fun.

- Thoughts from my one & only:
* Don't go out too fast.
* Read every sign, some are very funny.
* High five every kid who offers you one.
* Thank the volunteers at the aid stations.
* Enjoy the beer at the end of the race.
* Hug your family at the end.  They'll get over the sweat.
* Hug anyone around you at the finish!
* Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

- The halfway point isn't at 13.1.  It's usually somewhere around mile 20.

- Remember how hard running was, at all, when you started.  You stuck with it, though.
Same with this ...

- At some point its going to hurt, suck it up and keep going

When you get tired, run "backwards" -- only 13.1 to go, you've done that; only 10 miles to go, not far at all; 10K left, no problem; 5K is easy; anyone can run a mile...

Run the first ten miles with your head (+1 to don't go out to fast, run your pace)
Run the second ten miles with your legs (you've done the training, settle in and let those sexy runner's legs do the work)
Run the last 6.2 with your heart (believe in yourself, you can do this)

Have fun!

The daily tip : The Marathon Taper

http://www.nycmarathon.org/entrantinfo/daily_tips.htm

bring a plastic bag to sit on.

Also, wear WARM clothes at the start and then pack them in your bag, or use them as throw aways.

Drop your bag early.

The single most important piece of advice I can give is this:  get to your corral early----period

1. your own toilet paper, especially if you are in wave 3.
2. plastic bags to put over your shoes.  Even if it hasn't rained FW can get pretty muddy.

'd bring a few plastic bags...one to sit on, and if it's cold you'll appreciate being able to wear one (or two) of them. nothing keeps body heat in (and wind out) like plastic!
also, i'd recommend bringing reading material of some sort - you're there for a while!

Etc...
